Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showed once again that their winning streak against MI is not just a coincidence – it is the result of strategy and teamwork. Defending a big score of 203, LSG added another victory to their tally in the season by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs.
Mumbai melted under pressure
When 52 runs were needed in 4 overs, MI’s position was looking quite strong. But:. Avesh got Suryakumar out with a clever delivery.
. Digvesh Rathi stopped the run flow by bowling tight.
. Thakur gave away only 7 runs in the 19th over with a yorker.
. And the most surprising thing – sending Santner after retiring Tilak Verma.
Hardik started the last over with a six, but Avesh gave away only 3 runs in the remaining 5 balls by making a brilliant comeback. That was the turning point of the game.
Marsh-Markram Ne Rakha Strong Base
Bowling first, Mitchell Marsh (60 off 31) and Aiden Markram (53 off 40) started the innings. Marsh’s batting approach was attacking – boundaries on both backfoot and frontfoot, and a six over cover was the highlight.Ayush Badoni gave the finishing touch by adding 30 runs, while Pooran’s contribution was short but impactful.
Lasag’s victory: The result of careful planning
Discipline in the death overs and planning in the bowling rotation stopped the dangerous batting line-up of MI. The 6th win against MI proves that LSG is not just a team but a strategy machine.
Hardik’s Five-For Overshadowed by Death Over Drama
Hardik Pandya, leading from the front, claimed his maiden T20 five-wicket haul (5/36), the best figures by an IPL captain. However, his heroics couldn’t take MI over the line.Chasing 204, MI seemed on course at one point, powered by Suryakumar Yadav’s classy 67 off 43 and a fiery 46 from Naman Dhir. But a late collapse, tight overs by Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan, and clever use of tactics by LSG turned the game.
Cool Heads Prevail in Final Overs
Needing 52 off the last 4 overs, MI looked poised with SKY, Tilak Varma, and Hardik in line. But things changed quickly:
. Avesh dismissed SKY with a well-disguised delivery.
. Digvesh Rathi’s tight spell (1/21 in 4) choked the middle.
. Thakur nailed perfect yorkers in the 19th, giving just 7 runs.
. In a surprise move, Tilak was retired out to bring in Santner.
Even with Hardik smashing a six in the final over, 22 runs were too much. MI could manage only 191/5.
